Before installing any type of renewable energy technology, you’ll need to consider the following:

Renewable energy site survey - This is the most important step and will help you determine the best renewable solution for your business. Expert’s advice is usually needed so once you receive an offer from a supplier from RenApp coordinate with him/her and note the details of the site the project will be installed for a detail layout and proper evaluation.
For a solar system the area available should be needed and in case it will be installed on a roof, the inclination and orientation towards the south or north, while also the kind and type the roof is constructed from would be needed.
For a wind system the landscape and the distance of the location to the surrounding structures or trees will be needed. Also, any constraint on the height the wind tower could be installed is important for the evaluation.

Planning permission and connection requirements - You need to confirm you’re choosing the right renewable option for your house or business, the building you operate from and the local area. Installation might mean you need to make alterations to your building or request special permits from local authorities or other organisation depending on regulations and legislation that apply in your country.

If you’re planning on installing any type of renewable technology, you need to bear in mind that it might take a number of years to produce any sort of tangible return. That’s why it’s best that you own your business premises, or at least have a long-term lease in place, to make the investment worth your while.

What renewable energy technology options are available?

There are a number of options of technologies for renewable energy generation, but finding the right one it highly depends on where it’s located and the amount you’re willing to invest.

  • Wind power - Uses wind turbines to generate electricity. Suitable if you have a lot of space of building-free land.
  • Solar PV panels - Uses sunlight to generate electricity. These are easy to install and can be fitted on the roof or the side of your building.
  • Wind and Solar PV can easily be combined with batteries to form an off the grid power system.
  • Solar thermal energy - Uses sunlight to heat the water stored in your hot water tank. These are easy to install and can be fitted on the roof of your building.

How much a renewable energy system costs?

Usually a RES system pays back within 5 to 7 years, sometimes even less than that, depending on the location you want to install it and the cost of electricity you replace.

Download the RenApp and request a quotation from a supplier. Following that coordinate with them to get a full evaluation on how you will benefit financially from such an investment!

Note also that microfinancing is available for such projects, even for developing countries. For more information either ask you local government or get in touch with us!
